Early Access Privacy Notice

This notice applies only to the tulā early-access list. It does not yet cover information entered into the tulā app during beta or public use.

TULA PLANNING LTD is the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this notice.

2. What this notice covers

This notice explains how we use personal information when you join the tulā early-access list. We will publish a broader privacy notice before external users begin using tulā with real financial, household or account information.

3. What information we collect

When you join the early-access list, we collect only the information we need to administer it and learn what people want from tulā:

• your email address;
• your optional answer to “What would you most like tulā to make easier?”, if you choose to provide one;
• the date and time you joined;
• the version of the privacy notice and signup wording that applied when you joined; and
• your early-access status, such as active, withdrawn or invited.

We do not require your name, financial information, household financial details or other budgeting data to join the early-access list. The intent question is optional.

4. How we collect it

We collect this information directly from you when you submit the early-access form on the tulā website. Email is the only required field. Without it we cannot add you to the early-access list or contact you about early access; you can leave the intent question unanswered.

5. Why we use your information

We use your email address and signup record to:

• manage your place on the tulā early-access list;
• contact you when early access becomes available;
• send information needed to take part in early access; and
• let you know when tulā becomes generally available.

If you answer the optional intent question, we use that answer to understand which problems are attracting people to tulā and to help shape product and early-access priorities. We do not use it to decide whether you can join early access, set prices for you or target you with advertising.

Joining early access does not automatically add you to a general tulā marketing list. If we later want to send broader promotional emails, offers or other marketing, we will treat that separately and obtain any additional permission required.

6. Our legal basis

We rely on your consent to send early-access and launch-availability emails. You give that consent by taking a clear positive action to join the list after being told what the emails are for.

If you choose to answer the optional intent question, we also rely on your consent to use that answer for the product and early-access learning described above. You can leave the question unanswered and still join the list.

You can withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of anything we did before you withdrew it.

7. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information.

We may use trusted technology providers to host the tulā website, securely store the early-access list and deliver email. These providers may process personal information on our behalf and may only use it to provide the services we have asked them to provide.

We may also disclose information where required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

8. International transfers

Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we will use a transfer mechanism permitted by UK data-protection law, such as an adequacy regulation or appropriate contractual safeguards.

9. How long we keep information

We keep your early-access information while the early-access programme is operating and you remain on the list.

Unless we need to keep it for a separate lawful reason, we will delete the active early-access list no later than six months after the early-access programme ends or tulā launches publicly, whichever is later.

If you leave the list, we will stop using your email address for early-access communications. We may keep a minimal suppression record where necessary to make sure we respect your request not to receive further emails.

10. Leaving the early-access list

You can leave at any time. Early-access emails will include a straightforward unsubscribe method. You will not need to create an account or provide unnecessary additional information to leave the list.

You can also ask to be removed by emailing hello@tula-app.com.

11. Automated decisions and profiling

We do not use early-access information to make automated decisions about you. Optional intent answers are used only for simple product-learning analysis and not to build individual marketing or eligibility profiles.

12. Your data-protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law gives you rights over your personal information, including rights to:

• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct inaccurate information;
• ask us to delete information in appropriate circumstances;
• ask us to restrict how we use information in appropriate circumstances;
• object to certain uses of information; and
• withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.

13. Complaints

If you are concerned about how we use your personal information, please contact us first at hello@tula-app.com so we can try to resolve the issue.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data-protection regulator.

14. Security

We use proportionate technical and organisational measures designed to protect the early-access information we hold against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure.

15. Changes to this notice

We will review and update this notice as tulā develops. If we materially change how we use early-access information, we will provide appropriate notice before the new use begins.

A broader privacy notice will be published before people begin creating tulā accounts or entering real financial, budgeting or household information into the app.
